Our goal is to provide the hungry and food insecure children in our community with healthy food for the weekends. On Fridays, at each of our schools, children in our program are discreetly given a bag of food.
Each bag of food contains 3-4 nutritriously balanced meals, consisting of healthy proteins, fruits, vegetables and complex carbohydrates. We provide items that do not require refrigeration, stoves, dishes or flatware. Food bags weigh less than five pounds, making them easier for children to carry. The bags are placed in the child’s backpacks in a closed-door meeting. Another source we use for our food is Feeding America. They also provide information of the food items that we purchase from them.
Below is a breakdown of a typical food bag. Note that this is a representation of items that are included in the weekly disbursements but actual items may vary due to product availability.
