On the second and fourth Thursdays in November, Z Bistro is doubling their donations to Food for Thought in the spirit of Thanksgiving! Z Bistro will donate $1 on a selected starter and $2 on a selected Entree. Go eat a wonderful meal and donate to Food for Thought at the same time!

On August 27, 2012, School started. We are getting ready for a busy school year with our Backpack Program. We are anticipating an increase in the 760 kids we served every week last year. We will start giving food out to the kids in need after Labor Day.

August 24, 2012, was Food for Thought’s last day serving lunch for our Summer Food Program. This was our first year serving lunch to children in a community park. We served 3,676 lunches this summer to Carson City kids ages 2-18. We can’t wait to do it again next summer!

August 19, 2012, Food for Thought picked up around 1,000 books from Grassroots Books in Reno. Our hope is to give out books once a month to the children in our program this year.

In July 2012, Food for Thought was awarded $5,000 in grant money from Carson City. Food for Thought will be using the money to start a cooking class for parents, to learn how to make healthy inexpensive meals for their family
